Welcome to the Official RED SONATA FIESTA 2010 blog!

Red Sonata Fiesta, a one-week Chinese Cultural Event, first to be organized in UTP by UTPOCM! Starting from 23-26 March, we'll be having Cultural Expo, Cultural Games & Activities, & lastly a Musical-Cultural Concert Night as the finale!

Chinese Calligraphy Competition


Rules and Regulations

1. Registration: 1 – 24 March 2010 at Pocket D.

2. On-the-spot registration at the beginning of the game is available.

3. This is an individual game.

4. Registration fee for each participant is RM2 as materials will be provided.

5. Participants are encouraged to stay for the prize-giving session at the end of the game.

6. Chinese Calligraphy will be divided into 2 categories:

A) Educated

Sample poems will be provided.
Write the poem chosen on a piece of red paper provided using “Da Kai”.
Each participant will be given 10 minutes to finish up the calligraphy.
Write the poems vertically. Stick the poem on the wall with name written below upon completion.
There will only be 4 pieces of paper provided for each participant; extra paper requested will be charged RM0.50 per piece.
Judging scheme is based on creativity and neatness.
B) Non-educated

Sample idioms will be provided.
Write the chosen idiom with abstract thinking (imagination and creativity).
Write on a piece of red paper provided using “Zhong Kai”.
Each participant will be given 15 minutes to complete the task.
E.g. 人山人海 Participants are required to draw a human for the first character, a mountain for the second character, human again for the third character and for the fourth character, something that represents the sea.
After drawing the pictures, participants are required to write the given sample words exactly below the picture.
Write the poems horizontally. Stick the poem on the wall with name written below upon completion.
There will only be 2 pieces of paper provided for each participant; extra paper requested will be charged RM0.50 per piece.
Judging scheme is based on creativity and neatness.
